TEDct and third-party cookies
What other information do we collect from you?
We value your privacy and you can choose to visit our site without revealing any information about yourself. There are sections of the site where you may be asked to provide personal information. It is up to you whether or not you provide this information. The types of personal information we collect are names, email and postal addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and credit/debit card data. You may also choose to share your experience of TED with us. If you do, we will give you specific additional information about our proposed use of that data at the relevant time. We may also ask for other information to help us to improve the site and our communications and service to you.
How do we use the information you give us?
We use your personal information to provide you with the services, information or products that you request, for administrative purposes (such as ensuring that we have an accurate record of all the donations we receive), to let you know about changes, campaigns and newsletters and, if you agree, as part of our fundraising activities. TEDct may also gather your information to learn more about the people who visit our website, donate and become members.
Privacy and data protection
At TEDct we are committed to protecting your privacy. In order to respond to requests from users we collect personally identifiable information on our website from visitors who request information, make donations or otherwise provide us with personal information.
In the normal course of TEDct’s running, no information collected or stored on our website is shared with any third party organisations unless there is a specific indication from you that the information may be used in this way.
Will we share your information with outside parties?
TEDct shall not intentionally disclose (and shall take commercially reasonable steps to prevent accidental disclosure of) your personal information to third parties. We do not sell, rent or otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties without your consent. However, we reserve the right to share your personal information if we are legally obliged to and to enable us to apply our terms and conditions and other agreements. This includes exchanging information with other organisations for fraud and credit risk reduction.
Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet is 100 per cent secure. As a result, while we try to protect your personal information, TEDct cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk. When we collect your personal information we use strict procedures and security features to prevent unauthorised access.
How do we protect your information?
We are committed to protecting the quality and integrity of your personal information. Only authorised TEDct officers are allowed access to personally-identifiable information and these officers are required to treat this information as confidential.
We protect the privacy of everyone using the TEDct website and comply with the United Kingdom Data Protection Act, 1998. The Act includes strict rules on the storage and disclosure of the information you give us and is designed to prevent unauthorised access or loss of your information.
We use secure server software to encrypt any financial information you send when you make a donation. This software encrypts all your personal data so that these details cannot be accessed as they are transferred to us over the Internet.
How can I access, change, and/or delete information?
You may access, correct, update and/or delete any personally-identifiable information that you submitted to the Site. You can unsubscribe from TEDct newsletters at any time by sending an email.
Please contact us keep your information up to date by letting us know of any changes.
