Colin has been working with TEDct for over 10 years. He stepped down from his Chairmanship of the Committee at the end of 2009, but has maintained his position on the Board and his active involvement with TEDct.
Colin is currently Professor of Clinical Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism at University Hospital, Cardiff whilst also serving as Honorary Consultant Adviser to TEDct.
Gill Adams BSc, MBchB, FRCS(Ed), FRCOphth
Gill is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon specialising in squint surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Gill was a TEDct Committee member before becoming a trustee. She joined the charity because she has a long-standing interest in caring for patients with double vision due to TED. She explains “it has been immensely helpful to know that there is a good support mechanism for patients with this very distressing condition.” Gill assists, along with our other medical colleagues, in answering queries, and helps with patient support and information days.
Dr Paul Cauchi MBBS, FRCOphth
Paul qualified from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1996. He completed his early training in the South of England and London and subsequently completed an oculoplastics, orbital and oncology fellowship in Glasgow.
He frequently encounters patients with thyroid eye disease and serves as a local representative of The British Oculoplastic Surgery Society. He is a consultant ophthalmologist at Gartnavel and Southern General Hospitals in Glasgow.
Maureen was introduced to TEDct by her sister who was suffering from TED. With a background in both the WRVS and the NHS, she was appointed to the Committee in 2006 and became a Trustee of TEDct in 2011. In addition, Maureen acts as Secretary to the Board of Trustees, attends conferences and Patient Information Meetings on behalf of TEDct and administers the Grants/Awards Scheme.
Professor Bijay Vaidya MBBS, PhD, FRCP (Lond. & Edin.)
Bijay is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Honorary Clinical Professor based at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and the University of Exeter Medical School.
Lin has been a member of TEDct for many years and acts as the Telephone Helpline Co-ordinator. She attends conferences and seminars on behalf of TEDct. Lin has suffered from TED since 1994 and has received both medical and surgical treatments over the years.
Rebecca Ford MA BMBCh MEd MRCP MRCSEd FRCOphth
Rebecca joined the TEDct committee in January 2016. After medical school at Cambridge and Oxford she did her ophthalmology specialist training in London and Birmingham. She is a consultant Oculoplastic and Orbital surgeon at the Bristol Eye Hospital, where she provides a regional specialist referral service for medical and surgical care of thyroid eye disease. She serves as Chair of the TEDct Committee.
Mr Mike Murphy
Mike is the new Treasurer of TEDct.
Gillian has been a member of TEDct for many years and is soon to become the new Telephone Helpline Counsellor. Gillian started suffering from TED in 2004, undergoing treatment and 2 operations in 2007. She also attends some of the Patient Information Meetings and conferences.
Julie has been a member of TEDct Committee since 2008 and has many pivotal roles within the organisation.
Matt Edmunds PhD MRCP FRCOphth
Matt is a Clinical Lecturer in the Academic Unit of Ophthalmology, University of Birmingham. Matt has a particular interest in Thyroid Eye Disease and joined TEDct as a committee member in 2012. He has spoken at a number of TEDct patient information meetings and monitors the TEDct e-mail traffic.
Violet has joined as a new member of the TEDct committee in September 2015. She is an Advanced Endocrine Nurse Practitioner based in Oxford, and has ran 2 successful Thyroid Nurse-led clinics ( A Rapid Access Clinic for Thyrotoxicosis & A Post Radio-Iodine Clinic) for several years, in the Department of Endocrinology, at the Oxford University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Anna is an academic clinical lecturer and specialty trainee in endocrinology in Newcastle upon Tyne. She is particularly interested in the genetic variants that predispose to autoimmune diseases such as Graves' disease and has completed a PhD in this field. She is currently working on developing a questionnaire-based tool to help with the diagnosis of thyroid eye disease in endocrinology clinics.
Volunteer for TEDct on assistance of ICT and website. Based in Cardiff working for the Welsh Government.
